Creative & Editorial Production

My work has evolved from photo editing into creative direction, producing narrative-driven projects that focus on the unique aspects of each subject.

Recent photo direction and production highlights include assignments with Stefan Wachs:

Robb Report

As creative director on the shoot, I worked closely with Larry Bell and Stefan Wachs to shape a portrait of the artist within his Taos studio—an environment rich with over five decades of experimentation with light and materials. The focus was on positioning Larry in dialogue with the space and legacy he has built.

Takach Press

Portraits & environmental shots for “Takach: 50 Years” a book showcasing the history of a family run business that has grown into one of the world premier print press making company. This was a multi day shoot focusing on different aspects of the workshop, the people, the machinery and press. The factory style workshop presented a challenging environment that required creative lighting techniques and direction to make the industrial space visually compelling.

New Mexico Magazine

This was a project that was close to my heart since it highlighted an area that is part of the State that is close to my personal history here. It was a varied assignment that included interacting with very interesting local artists and santeros, artists steeped in the local traditional ways of depicting religious scenes. It combined interesting old small town culture as well as sweeping landscapes so it was a multifaceted assignment that was very fun to work on and stretched over several days since it was close to home, with multiple visits to the same locations.

Wildsam

We spent two days seeking out beautiful vistas and hidden gems in this remote area that was designated as a protected wilderness over 100 years ago. From sunrise to sunset we followed the light into the most remote areas in the Gila. The work is included here in Wildsam’s piece, “A Spell Binding Scenic Drive in New Mexico“.
