Education

Education has been a constant thread throughout my career. As an educator, mentor, and program director, I’m passionate about helping others grow through photography and the arts—guiding photographers as they refine, package, and share their projects in ways that connect deeply with audiences.

Highlights

  • Education Director, Magnum Photos — Launched the agency’s first Long-Term Mentorship Programs and developed global online seminars exploring how photography is evolving and how photographers can adapt.
  • Interim Director, Bilder Nordic School of Photography (Oslo, Norway) — Led curriculum development and faculty initiatives, ran the two-year photography program and continuing education, and curated the final exhibition for graduating students.
  • Faculty, School of Visual Arts (New York) — Taught in the BFA undergraduate program, focusing on professional development and contemporary photographic practice.
  • Instructor, International Center of Photography (New York) — Led courses emphasizing creative process and industry insight.
  • Program Development — Collaborated with institutions and sponsors across the Americas, Europe, and Asia to produce live talks, workshops, and online education programs.

Global Programs & Development

My international teaching experiences have offered deep insights into how photography connects across cultures and communities.

  • Benin (2023) — Co-produced an international workshop in Cotonou with a delegation of Swiss diplomats, photographer Stefan Wachs, and curator Azu Nwagbogu of LagosPhoto Festival. The workshop fostered cultural dialogue and collaboration among local artists.
  • Japan — Taught workshops at the Mt. Rokko International Photo Festival in Kobe, a “sister” event to CENTER’s Review Santa Fe. Led portfolio reviews, lectures, and workshops for photographers from across Japan, strengthening ties between Japanese and international photography communities.
  • Norway — While directing the Bilder Nordic School of Photography, I traveled throughout the country to introduce the program to students and educators. I was inspired by the curiosity of young Norwegians and their use of photography to explore identity, community, and the changing landscape of their country. I continued to lecture and teach workshops with many of the school’s alumni.
  • Screen: Global Storytelling Lab
I served as a mentor and Executive Producer with Screen, a transmedia storytelling lab that brought together photographers, filmmakers, and digital creators to develop innovative visual documentaries across multiple platforms. Led by an international team of editors, producers, and creative directors, Screen offered a rare opportunity for visual storytellers to collaborate across media — from photography and film to interactive and data-driven projects — and bring their stories from concept to completion. The lab culminated in a live pitch session where participants presented their projects to curators, photo editors and festival organizers.
